Tattoo Artist: Kayle Leo Grande

Where were you born and raised?
Born in 1989 in Anaheim, California. I was raised all over Orange County. I love the ocean and all the life out here, and don’t think I could ever move away. I graduated from a very small high school with less than 100 students in my class. My school was located only a couple miles in from the beautiful shores of Huntington Beach.

Growing up were there any people that influenced your decision on getting a tattoo?
Growing up in the famous OC you’ll see so many people with tattoos, and not always good ones either. As my obsession grew I turned to tattoo magazines, so I could see some of the best work in the world… that’s when I discovered Sabina Kelley and Vanessa Lake. They are two of the world’s most beautiful and respected pin ups I’ve ever seen, a tatted up proud mommy of 3 and one bad ass barber. They changed the tattoo game forever.. the next thing you knew there were beautiful tattooed bombshells everywhere. They have given courage to ladies who needed it. I hope to inspire and be just like them one day. They are fearless. They not only inspired me they inspired millions.

What made you decide to get your first one?
I wanted tattoos since the 5th grade, my teacher was constantly confiscating all of my Crayola doodles of tattoos that I had planned on getting in the future. I guess it disturbed my teacher so much that she called a parent teacher meeting with my mom. That’s so funny to me now that I’m covered in ink. Since that day my mom has always supported me and my passion for tattoos. I finally stepped foot into my first tattoo shop, Sick Dog’s Tattoo in Westminster California. At age 18 I received my first tattoo, a solid black heart behind my ear.

Do you have a favorite tattoo, and does it have a meaning behind it?
That’s like asking which one of your kids you like the best haha… But, if I had to pick just one of my tattoos it would have to be my “Mom Heart”, located on the bend of my arm. Kayle Leo Grande, owner of Classic Tattoo in Upland, tattooed this heartwarming piece after shortly getting word about my mother’s biggest battle, breast cancer. It’s colors are so vibrant and robust. It’s one of the first things you see when you meet me. I’d have to say it’s the most perfect tattoo in every way. My mom has always been my rock, I am very lucky and thankful to still have her in my life… I LOVE YOU MOM!!

How did you get into modeling?
Started off fresh at age 7 as mini cheerleaders for Cypress Pop Warner with my little sister, Taylor. To be honest we still haven’t stopped acting like barbies since then. Growing up we did everything from beauty pageants to motion picture films. I’ve lived a pretty awesome life thanks to my parents. When I was little I had fun modeling off and on, but now that I’ve matured I finally have the drive to focus more on moving up and accomplishing great things.

What or who are you’re inspirations?
In the past few years there have been a couple people that I have had the honor of volunteering for. They have inspired me to be the best I can be and made me who I am today. Working with them on such a successful level, seeing their persistent drive and determination to only succeed will always be inspiring. They set the example as to how I should carry myself if I also want to succeed. They have all overcome so much and have had to sacrifice almost everything they have to get to where they are today. I could never be more grateful for everything they’ve done. They are constantly sharing their knowledge and expertise in business and life, preparing me for my future in hopes I will only succeed.

What projects are you currently working on?
Hehe… Sshhh!! It’s supposed to be a secret, but I am currently working on my first calendar and looking forward to finishing it for the next year. Should be a nice little surprise  for the Holidays!
